Airfix - North American F-51 Mustang - 1:72 (A02047)
In 1948, the designation P-51 (P for pursuit) was changed to F-51 (F for
fighter). At the start of the Korean War the Mustang once again proved its
usefulness. With the availability of F-51Ds a substantial number were
shipped via aircraft carriers to the combat zone for use initially by both
the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) and USAAF. Rather than employing
them as interceptors or "pure" fighters, the F-51 became a ground attack
aircraft, fitted with rockets and bombs.
